Zero Escape series is heading to PC, PS4 and Vita

Escape-the-room visual novels Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (or 999 for short) and its sequel, Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, are coming to PC, PS4 and Vita in Q1 2017 as a bundle called Zero Escape: The Nonary Games.

The anthology’s version of 999 is getting revamped with HD graphics and some nifty new features like the option for Japanese or English voice-acting.

The original 999 launched on the Nintendo DS back in 2010 and was followed by an abbreviated iOS release in 2014. This mobile version took out all the puzzles, but added a feature allowing players to skip back to previous chapters in order to make different decisions and discover all of the story’s branching paths. Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma is out now on PC

Sci-fi thriller Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma has appeared on , a mere two days after its Vita and 3DS launch earlier this week.

This third and final entry in the Zero Escape franchise (which includes 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward) eschews the series’ visual novel presentation for fully 3D environments and characters who act out their scenes in a more lively, animated manner.

Presentation aside, Zero Time Dilemma is still a mix of brain teasers and Choose Your Own Adventure-style interactive fiction about a group of people forced to play a deadly puzzle game. Think Professor Layton meets Saw merged with a labyrinthine sci-fi plot that could give the likes of Inception or Primer a run for their money.
