GOG Winter Sale begins, Neverwinter Nights free for 48 hours

has begun and and offers BioWare’s old role-playing game Neverwinter Nights free for 48 hours.

It’s the Diamond edition of Neverwinter Nights, which means it comes with the game’s two expansions, Shadows of Undrentide and, more importantly, Hordes of the Underdark. Hordes of the Underdark added epic Dungeons & Dragons rules to the mix, meaning your hero could become godlike in power. It was easily my favourite of the three campaigns.

Remember, Neverwinter Nights had modding tools, so there’s a large modding scene. .

Final Fantasy 15 worldwide launch makes it series’ fastest-selling game

Boy band RPG Final Fantasy 15 sold more than 5m copies on its launch day.

Square Enix trumpeted its sales success with word the game also qualified as the long-lived franchise’s fastest-selling instalment – although this is largely due to it also being the series’ first simultaneous global release.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice delayed until next year

Ninja Theory’s upcoming viking action game about mental disorders, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, has been pushed back to 2017.

The developer noted in an update video that the studio had a project cancelled earlier this year and that negatively affected the team’s progress. Furthermore, Ninja theory took time away to collaborate with Epic Games on some , some of which will be used in Hellblade.

Ninja Theory further stated that it’s developing Hellblade independently of a publisher to assume more creative control over this more intimate, personal project. As such, it can take its time in really getting it right before shipping.

Watch: 60 minutes of ZX Spectrum inspired shooter Z-Exemplar

We do a lot of live streams on Eurogamer’s YouTube channel, but normally we’ll only stream new or unreleased games so you lovely lot can get an idea of how they play before forking out your hard earned pocket money.

Our regular Eurogamer Wednesdays streams (like this one) are a little different though. Sometimes – if we get the opportunity – we will stream a new game, but mainly we use this weekly slot to stream games we are currently enjoying.

That’s why this week I’ll be spending an hour playing the ZX Spectrum inspired side-scrolling shooter Z-Exemplar which I’ve been plugging away at since it released earlier this week.

What I think after five hours of Resident Evil 7

Perhaps it was the shark-jumping boulder punching that did it. “Resident Evil 5 was, for me, a big step towards being able to develop something like Resident Evil 7,” says Jun Takeuchi, executive producer of the latest Resident Evil game.

“At the time, we were putting forward Chris as the main character. It was the first time you’d seen him in a while and he had to be made into this big hero. I realised, in retrospect, the process of developing Chris into a hero character is not the same process of developing a Resident Evil game.

“It could be a little bit of a parallel track. I think we made a great game and people enjoyed it, we were able to marry the concept of co-op action and survival horror as best we could, but I do think there was more we could have done to make it moment-to-moment scarier.
